Biden’s response
When I put pen to paper, I want to say something objective; a tricky thing to do, because emotions can influence what you say, and that starts a debate with myself. What I want to say is about freedom, the right of all to be free.
The rules of war have evolved; Joe Biden is old school; he perceives the world from a 1945 perspective. The international rules of war state: The main purpose of international humanitarian law (IHL) is to maintain some humanity in armed conflicts, saving lives and reducing suffering.[i]. The United States cannot support Israel’s right to defend itself and condone the bombing of innocent Gazans. The United States is not Israel, it should not support a military response that violates the international rules of war. It cannot say we support Ukraine because Russia is bombing innocent Ukrainians, not only military targets; and say it is okay for Israel to bomb innocent Gazans. “Are we being told that it is wrong to kill a family, an entire family, at gunpoint, but it’s OK to shell them to death? I mean, there is a glaring double standard here,”[ii] she said. Joe Biden, on October 25, said that Israeli’ settlers in the West Bank must stop killing Palestinians but nothing about bombs that have killed thousands of Gazans. The hypocrisy is mind blowing. The United States has forfeited its credibility, Biden might as well have said, I support Israel because I want to get re-elected. One more reason, he should not run for re-election, but he is running, an old man trying to save his legacy. The United States was on the right side of history, supporting Ukraine, but now, supporting Israel unconditionally, no matter how many innocent Gazans die, not anymore. Queen Rania of Jordan said it best, “Are we being told that it is wrong to kill a family, an entire family, at gunpoint, but it’s OK to shell them to death?[iii] Joe Biden is making a big mistake, he is old school, perceives the world from a 1945 perspective
