I would argue
Liberals worry that if Donald Trump becomes President, the country will turn Fascist and no longer be a Democracy. I would argue the country is already Fascist to a degree. In the eighties, I was a State Senator in Chicago, Il. Federal prosecutors and the F.B.I. wired up an informant and he recorded my conversations. I knew the individual well; he was a former law partner. The government did not get a search warrant to record my conversations, they just wired up the informant and sent him after me. There is no right of privacy, because if there were, the government would not be able to do that without a search warrant. There are informants everywhere in the US. wired up to get information from targeted individuals being investigated by the federal government. You must think about who you talk to, he or she may be a federal informant. So, for me, there already is a Fascist element to the US. government, so if Donald Trump becomes President, it is not that Democracy is turning Fascist, for me, it is one more step in the process of getting there.
